Logan McRae
review 1: Not my favourite DS Logan book I'm afraid. As with all in this series so far, the subject matter is bleak and depressing, not helped by the seasonal wintry weather in Aberdeen, but I can put up with that. I think this time, I found the plot quite confusing. There were lots of little sub plots and it seemed to be that McRae had got himself tied up with backhanders from wee Hamish! How did that happen? Towards the end, I couldn't work out who the really bad guys were, who were the trio from Newcastle in the end? Were they Police? Who caught up with Danby at the airport? Too many loose ends not tied up to my satisfaction I'm afraid. However, I have the next one in the series on my shelf waiting to be read, I just hope I can keep up with this one.
review 2: okay
... more, since I love, love, love all the Logan McRae mysteries, I loved this one, too. Winter in Aberdeen sounds almost as bad as winter here in Minnesota. But at least they have rowies and lots of nice pubs. The rapists in Aberdeen are really nasty, too; Richard Knox is a type of rapist I had never heard of. Logan is still in hot water with professional standards, still fending off DI Steel, still getting beat up regularly, still resenting Beardy Beattie, and to add insult to injury, he has to share an office with Biohazard Bob--don't ask. less

Found this one #6 a little tedious compared to the others.

A good read, the black humour is a great addition.
