review 1: This is a very famous novel and long back was adapted as a dramatic serial by ZEE TV. Its a story of a family where there are two daughter in laws; one Indian and other NRI. The novel shows our two way attitude towards the person who is an NRI and rich. Is Dollar really powerful than Rupee when it comes to human relationships??The mother in law after a long journey from her town to USA realizes - all that glitters is not gold but at what cost???????? The cost was huge......
review 2: Even though we all are alike, each and every individual is different from one another and also the families. Characters seem very realistic and beautifully represented. Greed of Elder woman and it's consequences on entire family. Different social status' even though belonging to sa... moreme family. Egoism, Jealousy, hatred, love, fascination, aspiration and happiness..... all these and much more are included even though it's a small novel. We can learn a lot as readers from this novel of a family portrayal. less
