review 1: My five-year-old son picked this book out from the library this week. This was a fun twist on the classic "Bear Hunt". My son enjoyed going through the motions, right up until the graveyard. I think he would have enjoyed the hunt more without a ghost. The illustrations were adorable, but I had to take out my "mom brain" so that I wouldn't get worked up about a very young child (maybe four or five) wandering through the woods, swimming across a river and entering a graveyard. Sometimes it is better if you don't think about that sort of thing. Actual rating: 3.5 stars, but I round up.
review 2: Cute idea taken from the old camp song "We're going on a bear hunt." The words and pictures and "noises" keep the reader wanting to continue on the journey. The chi... moreldren go through a swmap, cornfield, river, woods, and up a giant tree into a graveyard where they meet . . . . Sorry, you'll have to get the book. This story took me back to when my children were young. This is another new 2012 book for children and those young at heart. less
