review 1: I saw from a review pretty early on that this book was about sexting and I thought, wow, this sounds so overblown. But that's the point, really. The book goes on to tell a really thoughtful story about how screwed up our legal system is, punishing children for consensual (barely) sexual acts. I really enjoyed getting to know the main character, Del, along with the other people in his life. You really wouldn't think that a book about sexting would be so beautiful, but it really is, it's poignant with a message I've never seen before in a book. Susan Vaught is a therapist, so she presumably knows what she's writing about, which enriches the emotional experiences of her characters that much more. Totally recommend this book!
review 2: This book took about a
... morethousand years to get going. The central premise is obvious from the dust jacket, but it's treated as a big secret that's revealed as the story progresses. It does have a number of redeeming qualities, including a likable narrator caught in a shitstorm of suckitude, an interesting cast of supporting characters, and emotionally evocative scenes. It fails though in its pacing and its predictability, and occasionally wallows in details that don't add much to the plot or to the character development. Once it got going I enjoyed it. less

It was shaky at first but it was depressing along the way. But the ending was brill!
