review 1: Wow, I really enjoyed this book, I loved the author's style and the storytelling quality in which the story unfolded. But I am more curious about this world- is this in an alternate universe, or simply set in the past? The backround for the story seemed very cryptic, which is the one thing I might complain about a bit. However, overall, this was a really great, well-written book with an amazing heroine and a really cute love interest.... I didn't expect it to take place from Owen's point of view as much as it did, but it really made him seem relatable to. One of the first books I've read in a log time that has equally interesting main characters, in most books either the girl or boy is kind of boring. Kudos to Suzanne Selfors for writing an amazing, heartwarking ... morebook!
review 2: I could not get enough of this book. There was something so charming about it, the characters especially were very endearing. My favorite aspect about this book is that the main character Emmeline does not let her romance and love interest change her. She is more influenced by her love for family and heritage, which is a breath of fresh air from most YA novels, which send a "life starts at man" message that bothers me. Anyway, the plot flowed well and it was a fun book to read, i must warn you though THIS BOOK WILL MAKE YOU HUNGRY. Seriously, I was having serious chocolate cravings after this read. Anyway, I've now read two books by Selfors that I liked so I'll say she's a good author for a fun, lighthearted read. less
