review 1: I found this book by searching "mansions" at my local library because my favorite book had been Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier (read it in high school in 1986 and one other time since). When I do read, I love to read about mansions set in the late 1800's. A Lasting Impression was hard to put down! Everything about this book was so well developed, and it captivated me very early. This was also my first Christian fiction book. I was initially reluctant because I didn't want to be 'evangelized' or preached to; however, this book doesn't do any of that. It simply shares characters saying grace and attending church. I have a new favorite book (I just hope I'm not haunted by Rebecca).
review 2: This book was really surprisingly great. I was a bit worried at first becau
... morese it's well over 500 pages and I was curious as to how the author would leave out the boring (especially in this genre with no action) but I ended up reading it in 2 days. Ha.The characters are really well rounded and made sense. Their struggles were so real and it honestly challenged me a lot. Particularly on how well I love people even when they're hurtful and my heart behind my actions towards those people. I also loved how honesty was so important to the characters in repentance or even just relationships in general.. I think sometimes that's forgotten in life. Anyway I really adored this novel and am walking away from it challenged. I'd definitely recommend it. less
