review 1: Just like the first book in the Belmont Series, I LOVED this book and could not stop reading it. I think I liked the love story in the first one a bit more, but not sure why. Tamera Alexander is one of the better historical fiction writers I've read. I love her detail and the fact that she uses real people within her fictional story. In this one you hear about Luther Burbank (botanist), Dorothea Dix and Gregor Mendel. The main characters are also based on real-life people and the Belmont Mansion is a real place, that is still in Nashville that I now want to visit. I found the info on the way they treated and cared for those in the 1860's that had what we would now call Alzheimers or dementia very interesting also.
review 2: This book was amazing from start to f
... moreinish. Tamera Alexander wrote yet another riveting novel that kept me up way past my bedtime to finish reading. The story line was excellent, and the characters came to life through the book. The story was romantic, but not too much (in my opinion), and there were also many Christian truths taught throughout the book. It is a must read for fiction lovers; a page-turner for sure! Be prepared to be at the edge of your seat in suspense, excitement, and frustration as the story unfolds. less
