review 1: Kovac and Liska are called to a murder scene on theMinnesota hwy. The girl with no id or anythng badly beaten. New Years day Jane Doe. While a mother from Kansas is fretting over her missing daughter and getting no help from the police. This story goes back and forth beyween cities til the cops and mother meet to id the young girl. Ms. Hoag has given us a clue to the killer but ends the story. it really is a good intro for following the cases.
review 2: This is a fabulous set up for The 9th Victim which I have in audiobook which is now higher on my list after reading this. I like Kovac and Liska anyway but this story introduces our serial killer nicely. The title is a misnomer. Our victim really isn't the first but she might be the first where there is suc
... moreh a vocal advocate. Her mother knows that Rose wouldn't simply disappear. But she can't get the police to cooperate. Kovac and Liska have a Jane Doe so unrecognizable they aren't sure they want a positive ID. Liska is a parent and she hurts for the mother of the unknown girl. When they finally make the positive ID, they all swear to get the guy, but he isn't going to make it easy. As he ups his game, Doc Holiday, as they've come to name him, is going to make life miserable for our detectives and for his victims. less
