Although much of it is general, particularly the repetitive syntax with some breaks into more original and thoughtful reflections, the post modern slew of products and cultural debris is reported with a refreshingly matter of fact tone. It is no more and no less than a part of their environment. Then I decided that from now on I'm going to try to do what I say I'm going to do. After finishing Richard Yates I went back to reading Lorrie Moore's Birds of America which seemed kind of boring in comparison and didn't adequately "capture my attention." I couldn't even be bothered to remember any characters' names. Sorry Lorrie. less
