review 1: I think what I like most about this story is that Killian is down to earth. He wants to just be himself. Not a witch but himself. He doesn't want to lord his power or wealth over anyone but be who he is and enjoy life for all its possibilities. I wanted whack him everytime he walked from Blaine. Seriously that guy was incredible and Al the familiar liked him as well. Why did he walk away? I believe several reasons: his mom and the stupid tradition; fear of losing a part of himself due to silly accusations from the council of witches; fear of falling in love and when finally telling someone about himself them walking away and fear in general. It's hard to love and be afraid no one will reciprocate. So glad Blaine kept pursuing. Didn't like Blaine's initial reaction to Killi... morean's news though. Not nice Blaine. While that is going on. Killian is figuring out that he has been lied to and doesn't like it and employs the help of his bride who is in love with someone else to help him see this. The duplicity leads to many revelations one especially of his student being a witch. This gives Lavender and Killian hope as they find a way to break the engagement, be with their loves, end the secrets and lies and pave the way for half witches to be welcome into society. Alot to take on while falling in love but Killian does a great job with it.A fun book all around that has you rooting for love and defeating the bad guys.
review 2: You know what, this wasn't that bad. I honestly didn't go in expecting much from this book, but I ended up enjoying it more then I thought I would. Now that doesn't mean it didn't have any flaws, cause frankly the ending was a really unsatisfying and unrealistic (ignore the whole witch thing for a second), but I'd say the book is definitely worth a look. Especially if you like male witches who are more interested in second hand furniture then using there powers, physics professors who are stereotypical looking (glasses and all), and cats with balls to big for there body. less
