review 1: I loved this read. From the very beginning I was pulled into Lauren and Ryan's story. Watching how they interacted in the beginning of the novel with such animosity and then through flashbacks learning about who they were as a couple and ultimately vying for them to figure things out. Their approach to separation was unusual, but I think that's part of what made this read so good. There were plenty of laugh out loud moments, too.
review 2: This was a good solid read about a married couple who reaches a shaky point in their relationship and decide to separate for a year. I liked it even though the subject was a bit depressing at times. I would have definitely liked a Ryan's POV, it did seem like this is Lauren's story and it was not fair to push Ryan out of the
... morepicture so early and not get this side of the story. I want to like it more but the truth is that I really did not like Lauren as a character and I found it hard to feel sympathetic with her. Taylor Jenkins Reid is probably one of my favorite authors, I love her writing style and the stories she writes and I look forward to more although after her first book about a young widow and now about a young couple going through a marriage crisis I hope her third will be something a bit more uplifting and fun. less
