review 1: While the writing and story were engaging, I felt that perhaps this work was inspired by Game of Thrones in terms of some of the key plot and character choices. It still presents the wonderful philosophical cornerstones that emerged in early works like faith of the fallen, however, this work is one step closer to the horror genre than just merely dark fantasy....which is an interesting mix. Not neccesarily a feel good story, it will be interesting to see where Goodkind goes with this. *spoilers* while I've loved the key characters over the years, I am intrigued to see what Goodkind will do with the rest of the characters in his universes. Some interesting new characters presented and the introduction of a powerful new pint sized villain. Some of the magic in the verse is g... moreetting a tad complex. So now there is additive and subtractive magic, wizards, and sorceresses....and sorcerers from FOF, and the pristinely ungifted....and occilt stuff? I feel like some of the magic may be running away with complexity at times. Still, its ambitious work. As said, excited to see what happens next.
review 2: Well thing for me is idk why I keep reading them I only like maybe 3 characters and he now kills one of them! I skip over so much of the book because he keeps re-explaining things that happened in all the other 16 books! Like seriously dude if we're reading this we made it through all the other over explained books now please just try and tell the story that's happening instead of the stories that already happened because it makes for an exhausting read instead of I can't put this boon down kind of read less
