review 1: I feel like people are rating this book a little too harshly, overall it's a pretty hilarious book, it's not supposed to be heavy in any way whatsoever. The only problems I had with it is the part when the baby died- although it was done horribly (as I believe this entire book was intended to be), I couldn't help but feel guilty about that entire ordeal. Also, this book made me sit down for awhile after and think to myself "did I just laugh my way through an entire book that talks about kids killing kids on a TV show?" When I made that realization, I couldn't help but feel The Hunger Pains was even more chilling than The Hunger Games, even if the intention wasn't so. Overall, I have to give this book a solid 3 stars due to the weak character development and world building,... more the only way you could have possibly understood the world is if you had read The Hunger Games before this. Very funny book, but a very powerful impact after you realize what you have just been laughing at for the entire time.
review 2: The Hunger Pains is a really silly parody of The Hunger Games. It is completly out there, and filled with potty humor. Loved the idea that the capital citizens spoke in a Jamican accent, but if you love Katniss as a heroine and are on Team Petta, you will not like the book. Also, it is a very quick read. If you come into it as not expecting too much like I did than this book is silly enough for you to read. less
