Hey you guys! For today’s posts, I figured we would take a look at my shelves and see which books I have on there that I still haven’t read yet – even though I have owned some of them for almost a year now. This is a fantastic way to pressure me into finally getting to these books because it’s just ridiculous at this point, really.
But before we talk about the new unread books on my shelves, I thought it would be fun to take a look at my first post and see if I’ve read any of the books I talked about back in March!
Yep, The Book Thief has been on my shelves for so many years now and I talked about it back in March, but I still haven’t read any further. I still have a dog-eared page at about 250ish pages but I think at this point, I will have to go back in and start reading this book from the very beginning because I don’t remember anything that has happened in the first half of the book.
Up next we have The Girl At Midnight which has been sitting on my shelves probably even longer than The Book Thief and I haven’t even started reading that one. And I’m not sure when/if I’m going to read it but I also don’t want to give it away for some reason. It might be the cover.
And the last book off my first list of books that I still haven’t read is Red Rising by Pierce Brown. Yes, I know. I used to talk so much about wanting to read this book and here we are and it still hasn’t happened. Don’t ask me why I have no idea. However, I still very much plan on getting to this book soon-ish because Pierce is bringing out a new book that appears to be at least set in the same world at the beginning of 2018 and I kind of want to know what the hype is all about!
But, in some good news: I read three books featured in my previous post, so I think I did pretty good – right? The first books on my list that I read were The Bane Chronicles as well as Tales From The Shadowhunter Academy both by Cassandra Clare! I read them not too long ago and while I quite enjoyed The Bane Chronicles (to the surprise of absolutely no one) I wasn’t as big a fan of TFTSA. It had some fun stories in it but the majority felt just ‘meh’. Nonetheless, I’m still really happy to say that I have now read all the books that Cassandra Clare has released in her Shadowhunter Chronicles!
The last book off that list that I’ve since read is A Conjuring Of Light (book 3 in the Shades Of Magic trilogy) by V.E. Schwab! I absolutely loved it. I got destroyed by it but I still really loved it. I wrote a review of the book so I won’t talk too much more about it here (as I have a feeling that this post is going to get a bit long as it is)!
And now, let’s get into all of the unread books that have made their way onto my shelves since writing the original post back in March and see how ridiculously long my physical TBR is. *is afraid to check shelves*
For some reason, I still have an unread Victoria Schwab book on my shelves in the form of This Savage Song that I bought probably somewhere around the time when I was reading her Shades Of Magic trilogy at the beginning of 2017. The conclusion to the book has been released for a couple of months now too so at least when I finally get around to the duology I can marathon it and don’t have to wait for the next book to be released – which is always fantastic.
Up next, I have Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer which I bought used a couple of months ago because the synopsis really intrigued me but for some reason, I haven’t been in the proper mood to read it ever since which sucks. But (if I remember correctly) Lia really loves this book so I am definitely excited to see what it’s all about – I just don’t know when I will finally get to it. This definitely seems like the type of book that you need to take your time with and really dive into the story which hasn’t been my reading style lately. I’ve just been reading as many books as possible because I’ve just been so motivated to read all of the books – this book doesn’t quite fit in yet.
Oh, look! A John Green book – but it’s not Turtles All The Way Down. I haven’t gotten that book yet because I’m not sure if I want to read more of John Green’s books at the moment which is probably why Will Grayson, Will Grayson is still unread too. I absolutely loved Looking For Alaska and The Fault In Our Stars but I read both those books years ago and I’m just not sure if John’s writing and storytelling is still my type of book. We’ll see, I guess!
And the last book on my shelves that I want to talk about is Out Of The Easy by Ruta Sepetys! I got this one used a couple of months ago too because I was quite intrigued by the New Orleans setting of the story and I’ve heard so many people talk about how fantastic Ruta Sepetys other novels were that I had to grab a copy and find out for myself!
I do have two more unread books on my shelves (Lock & Key and The Moon And More by Sarah Dessen) but I won’t be reading them anytime soon (as I feel like they are more appropriate for the summer months) so I won’t talk about them here. But also, this post is already really long so I should wrap it up!
How about you guys? Do you know how many unread books you have on your shelves? Or what those books are? Or do you prefer not to pay too much attention to those facts? Let me know in the comments down below!
