review 1: I almost put it down after reading the very first page. I don't enjoy dialog that is hard to follow due to improper grammar. In this book I felt that it really didn't help the story so it was very annoying. I persevered and finished the book, but couldn't give it more than 3 stars. I just kept feeling that the plot was too unrealistic to be believable, and it didn't end, it just stopped, like the author couldn't decide which way to end it. It was a fascinating idea for a book, I just didn't feel that it delivered.

Maggie lacks the sense of honor to her oath of professional behavior. And yet, each woman gains something simply by getting to know one another.Unger's novel argues strongly for women to bond with women. She is speaking of friendship and joy and common understanding. Maggie has a good marriage; Lakshmi does not. But the disparity brings to light in Maggie's mind things she has left under appreciated while at the same time helping Lakshmi fight for a bigger piece of the world to belong to her and her alone.I found THE STORY HOUR moving. Though both protagonists seem to be presented with an emphasis on their faults, there but for the Grace of God go I. We all have impulsive decissions, unkind words, and secrets that take power from our joy of living. Finding your way to a better life despite the cost to others may offend some readers while other readings fist-pump and yell "Yes!"Give THE STORY HOUR a try. You may find yourself amazed. less
