review 1: Tim Chester explains the significance of eating in ministry crystal clear. He attacks this topic from every angle and totally convinces us. Some of the points may have been pushing the agenda and you might disagree with them, but over all it is a great topical argument. I admit I was skeptical before reading this, but I know see how effective meals are in ministry and church life. You only need to read the first half or so. Towards the end of the book, I felt like we were beating a dead horse and it was challenging to finish. This is a short read, but could have been even shorter.
review 2: Would recommend: YesThis book is about hospitality and meals as ministry, and I found it very thought-provoking and insightful. My main takeaways were: - Hospitality is a
... more commercialized commodity now (Starbucks, Hilton, Martha Stewart), which dilutes the integrity of the interactions in my home: I should not let this be the case- Authentic hospitality is not performance art- Being hospitable and having a meal with someone is about "welcoming, creating space, listening, paying attention, and providing," not showing off less

Good look at meals, and at communion in particular. I found this book insightful.

Great little gem about the missional and sacramental nature of meals with Jesus.
