review 1: I enjoyed this book and found it thought provoking. Dr. Chester is not a Catholic, so I expected I would not relate to some of his views on the "symbols" of the bread and wine, which to Catholics are not symbols, but true body and blood. And while their was some discussion of that and his premise was meals in our home I felt the majority of the book could actually be taken as discussion of the Eucharist itself. A meal in community (diverse community sometimes) that offers true food and leaves the partaker changed. It fits nicely with Fr. Robert Baron's Catholicism video on the Eucharist. Other thoughts on what food is, why we share it, and how we are to be thankful for it, rather than making an idol of it were also excellent. Read it. You won't be disappoi... morented.
review 2: Really strong in his chapter in food and mission, especially in naming different attitudes in this across social classes, and in emphasising how wonderfully ordinary being intentional about sharing meals can be. Sone great comments on sharing with rather than giving to the poor.Other chapters lacked grounding in tangibility for me. and I felt he (or maybe I) lost focus e.g. Subtitle and intro all about community, grace and mission, then chapters on salvation and hope tagged on. less

Easy to read. Book deals with using meals to connect with others in disciple making

Probably one of the most interesting books on Jesus' life I've ever read. Awesome!
