review 1: Fan fiction, derivative of the "Wimpy Kid" and "Twilight" books, just as you'd expect. Set in the author's native England. Being a vampire is less fun when you are doomed to be 15 years old forever. Teen angst throughout most of the book gives way to a coming-of-age story by the end. Where this book failed for me was in not being funny enough; I never once laughed out loud. Humour is individualistic, and so many readers will find the jokes funnier than I did. I also never found myself drawn into the book's world, nor did I find the protagonist (of any other characters) especially engaging. Of course, I am probably not the book's intended audience, being an adult. Far less for "Wimpy Kid" fans, and far more for "Twilight" fans, or vampire fans in general, and even some o... moref them will be bored, I think. I'm giving it two stars because I've read worse fan fiction than this, believe me.
review 2: This book is absolutely great! I loved every second and every page of it! I would say this could be enjoyed by ages 9 and up. And adults could clearly appreciate this type of book. It's quirky, funny, and childishly moody. Nigel is one hell of a vampire. He's awkward, zit-faced, and easily sunburned. Once a new girl by the name of Chloe come to Stockfield, he falls madly in love with her. That's when things get interesting for your morbid, almost a hundred years old teenage vampire. I recommend this to anyone! It's such an easy read as well. I got through it in two days! less
