review 1: OK I have to admit this book was really sweet and super funny. Some of the things Paul did were hilarious and had me laughing out loud...like falling into the hippo tank at the zoo, doing a simultaneous sneeze-burp, inhaling some spinach and needing the Heimlich maneuver...etc. The conversations or rants between Paul and his best friend and drag queen Sandy (Helena in drag) while really original and off the wall kinda lost me a few times and would go off on weird tangents. They did however teach me some really interesting stuff about the gay social scene...and I loved the old-dude Daddy Charlie.Paul unfortunately had a bad case of verbal diarrhea as internal dialogue. His raging lack of confidence and self-derogatory thoughts got old after a while...come on Paul, give your... moreself a break.Paul's parents were great but not what I would call your typical parents. His nana was a sharp-witted, sharp-tongued, super sweet old lady with a homophobic parrot who was always calling Paul a fudge-packer or some other crude name. He also adopted a really cute 2-legged dog that he named Wheels.Vince on the other hand is a totally hot, buff, ripped guy but unfortunately he's not too smart. I kinda melted a little when he confided to Paul that he knew he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed and that most guys just used him for his good looks. I found Vince's character more realistic because of this "flaw" and it just made him more sweet and vulnerable.Vince wants Paul...he just has to convince him that his feelings are "real" (sigh!!!).PS. I desperately wanted more sex-scenes...need juicy details please.
review 2: I NEVER bother writing book reviews or giving 5 star ratings - even for my all time favourite books - but I had to write about this book. I have read a lot of funny books - and this is easily the funniest I have ever read. I have read a lot of gay romance books, and this is easily the best written gay romance I have ever read.Wacky, campy, sexy farce with a line that puts a grin on my face and a chuckle on my breath about twice in every paragraph. This book is a flawless specimen of its type, every character and scene bursting with new hilarity. If you like comic gay romance novels, you really must read this one. less
