review 1: A quick read in the classic noir style fraught with all the cynicism, fatalism and moral ambiguity required of such. Piccirilli has the reader right there in the head of the main character in a downward spiral that eventually makes us wonder how much further from the mainstream will he/we go.... I'm grabbing the book now for a quick skim, yeah, I recall correctly; this main character is given no name. We are all potentially him.
review 2: Pardon the language but my mind has been thoroughly f**ked thanks to this book. After finishing it I didn't even know what happened to me. Talk about going along for the ride.
