review 1: Amazing, a return to family of Dogs. That would make sense only if you read the previous installment in this dark family saga. Terry Rand returns as the driving force in this family of career criminals. Here he deals with the aftermath of what happened in the previous installment,as well as his old flame Kimmy, and meeting the side of the family he has never known. Thrills, and action as well as personal drama make for another great read. I am glad Mr. Piccirilli is back and healthy and will be able to deliver many many awesome books.
review 2: In The Last Kind Words, we meet the Rand family -- a group of thieves and grifters, who have a reasonable sense of morality, assuming you can get over that they are criminals. In this sequel, we meet the wealthy in-laws,... more who appear to be legitimate business people, but who are morally bankrupt. The main plot is Terry trying to help his former friend, Chub, escape execution for his role in supplying a getaway car for a robbery gone bad. The high points of the book are Terry Rand's interactions with the stone cold assassin and the girl he picks up in a local bar. less
