review 1: In hopes to read a riveting military thriller, I picked up The Mullah's Storm by Thomas W. Young. I wasn't disappointed. The novel started off with a fast pace and continued like that throughout the entire book. Also, The Mullah's Storms packed a lot of action in its 278 pages. I really enjoyed reading this book but rated it 4 stars due to the strong language. The language did give it a feel of authenticity but also kept me from recommending it to younger readers.
review 2: Explosive high action packed thriller with a descriptive style that echoes of a Hemingway novel. I really enjoyed this military thriller, so appropriate and related to the current conflict in Afghanistan. The action keeps one riveted from beginning to end and I rushed through it between stud... moreying in just here days, often reading late into the early morning hours. I only put it down reluctantly. The story line is interesting and devoid of political correctness which so often infuses writing related to the military. Young has a mastery of his art and never leaves the reader wanting. There are just enough well timed 'breaks' in the central plot which give the reader pause from the action narrative and help to build the character of the actors. If there is a let down, it is only minor, and I would consider it the closing. We all like a big happy ending and Young has decided to leave hie ending pen. I was expecting a welcome fanfare and attribution of the promised rewards, but hey that was hie right to end the novel as he saw fit. Would I purchase and read another of his novels? Without a doubt. Do yourself a favour and obtain this book, then sit back and enjoy the trip. After reading it I wanted a nice hot bath for sure. less
