review 1: *SPOILERS*Whiskey prince is such an amazing love story! It's real and heartfelt, Toni Aleo did an awesome job! We start off with Amberlyn Reilly, who has lost her father and just recently her mother. Lost and alone, Amberlyn decieds to Follow her mothers last wishes for her,Take A Risk.Do Something Drastic.Fall In Love. And go to Ireland to be with family, work, go to school, and most important Live. In Ireland, Amberlyn sees why her mother wanted her to come here. It's beautiful. Working in the pub of her aunt and uncles bed and breakfast with her cousin, who's more like her sister. She starts to see that maybe she can do this, live her life like her mother asked. With her list in mind Amberlyn wonders where to start. Declan O'Callaghan, the whiskey prince of Ireland. He s... morehould be married and raising babies by now. Like all the men in his family, who have run the whiskey business. It's been that way for generations. So Declan's dad gives him a choice, marry in six months or the company goes to Declan's sisters soon to be husband. Declan won't have it, the business is going to him, he loves it. But he won't just marry anyone. He wants love and a real relationship. Be he's shy and always locked away, for fear of people using him for his celebrity like status. When Declan's sees Amberlyn across the lake, he just knows he has to get to know this women. With a little push from his friend Kane, he ventures outside of his comfort zone, the distillery. When he meets Amberlyn, there's an Instant connection. But with some misunderstandings, Amberlyn's cousin Fiona tells her Declan O'calugun is off limits. He's royalty and enganed. Disappointed Amberlyn decides that she'll still talk to him, that they can be friends. But Declan wants more. And he's going to court the "Shite" out of her! When all is corrected and amberlyn learnes Declan is single and has feelings for her, just like she has for him, they couldn't be happier. Taking things slow is no problem for them, but it's pointless, there falling so fast in love with each other. And they don't want to scare the other away. Amberlyn starts living and growing, while Declan starts to come out of his shell and let's himself trust someone. But in the back of his mind, is the approaching date. Be married or loose the distillery. But Declan would give that all up in a minute to be with his love! I really loved the romance in this story. The love and happiness these two share is so great! It has love, family, lose, drama, sexy irish accents. ( just try to read this story with out an Irish accent, it's impossible) lol I love the language and cultur, intourduced in whiskey prince. Makes me one day want to travel to Ireland! The side characters were also so great. Kane and Fiona! They are definitely a pair. Loved reading about them. An amazing modern day love story, with culture, humor and some tears. Thank you for such a great book Toni aleo.Be sure to look for Becoming the Whiskey Prince. Coming in 2015
review 2: Toni Aleo took quite a risk with this novel as it is a far cry from her Assassins series and I think the risk payed off. If you are looking for a book like the Assassins, this isn't it, however if you are looking for a book about life, death and love, this IS it. Toni Aleo created new characters for us to fall in love with.Amberlyn has been dealt a pretty bad hand in life. She spent the last few years taking care of her dying mother, so she never really experienced the life of a normal teen. After her death, Amberlyn's mother left a few wishes for her only child, ones she wanted to see come true in her homeland of Ireland. She now lives with her Aunt, Uncle and cousin, while working at the family's pub. Some days are harder than others, however Amberlyn has made the most of her time there thus far. Feeling like she should start working on some of her mother's requests, Amberlyn puts herself out there.Declan is the Whiskey Prince by name only and it's one he hates. In Ireland he is considered royalty due to his family's whiskey business. This means every move he makes is captured by the newspaper's and magazines, much to his dismay. For that reason, Declan rarely leaves the family property. He is only 22 and already a recluse, which doesn't go over well with his friend Kane, who starts forcing him to go out again. While on an outing with Kane, Declan sees the beautiful Amberlyn and wants to know more about her. Kane is into her friend Fiona, who works at the pub with Amberlyn, so the chips start falling into place. Showing up at the pub, Declan gets an eyefull of Amberlyn and the sass that goes along with her. Not caring that he's "Irish Royalty", she treats him like any other guy in the pub checking her out. This is something Declan finds refreshing as he is sick and tired of the gold digging girls he's been with before. After a few meets at the bar, Declan and Amberlyn start to casually date and learn more about each other. She learns about his legacy, while he learns about the events in her life that made her the strong girl she is today. He likes her, but isn't sure she's cut out for his world. Something his father isn't sure of either.Declan comes with strings, ones that will effect his future and the future of any woman he is with. This is something he's kept to himself so he can discover his feelings for Amberlyn with out any pressure on her. There is an ultimatum on his head set by his father and grandfather, to take over the distillery he must be married by 21. A family tragedy bought Declan some time, however he now has 6 months to find his bride. This isn't something you want to tell a gal you just met, so he doesn't. As you can imagine things aren't easy for this young couple with so much stacked against them from the beginning. The book is beautifully written and leaves us wanting more of Declan and Amberlyn's story. I thank Toni Aleo for taking a chance on this sexy Irishman, she should be proud. less
