review 1: Loved this book it was humous light relief after listening to all 28 discs of Winter of the World by Ken Follett. Ella Canfield and her whole family have 'careers' as con artists. The particular job they are involved in at the moment is a huge chance for Ella to really shine, and to reveal to her father and family just how skilled she is. Unfortunately, it is stretching her skills to the limit as pretending to be a genetic scientist, seeking a grant to hunt for the Tasmanian tiger at Wilson's Prom is proving to be more complicated than she tought it would be! Especially when the rich man willing to fund the project would like to see her work in action and she has never ever camped in her life...nor is she a scientist ect...Throughout the book we a reavealed not only th... moreis particular con job but more and more about Ella and her amazing family. A fantastic humouros read!
review 2: Listened to this as I drove to work and it is laugh out loud. Della's family are grifters who live by scamming. Della has a big project on line, which involves fleecing wealthy Daniel, who gives away money for research in the sciences. Della has to pretend to be a hot shot biologist with an interest in the Tasmanian tiger. Of course, not everything goes to plan especially when Daniel wants to accompany the city girl, Della on a field trip to Wilson's prom. Everything goes even more pear shaped as her father is himself scammed and ends up in prison, and Della discovers that Daniel is not all he seems. Loved it!! less
