review 1: A wonderfully original take on the origin of Santa Claus! Mr. Bertauski knows how to bring life to his characters and make you care about how they are doing. This story takes all the Santa lore of old, mixes it up with scientific explanations for most of the phenomena and spits out one of the best Santa stories I have ever read. We now know how Santa is able to see every child in the world in a single night, how all the stuff fits into his sack, how he is able to squeeze into chimneys, why we put gifts in stockings and best of all, why Rudolph has that red nose. You even learn about Jack Frost, who reminds me a little of Loki, the Norse God. This is a highly entertaining book that would make a great Christmas movie. I highly recommend it and I will be reading more of Tony ... moreBertauski's books in the future.
review 2: I won this book online and I have to say I'm happy I did. Claus: Legend of a Fat Man is exciting, fast paced, and fun. It is a story of the origins of Santa Claus like no other. It gives not only the origin of Jolly Old Saint Nick but also his elves as well as explaining some of the science behind the "magic" of Santa. It does all this while providing a fast paced adventure involving a conflict within the elfin community and a plot by the their leader to eliminate man kind. It's a real fun read. less

Great telling of the Santa story! Science fiction married with fantasy beautifully!

New spin on old myth, a bit fanciful, but fun enough
