review 1: What if one person had control over everyone using simulations that are like mind games to make them do whatever you ask. In the second book of the Divergent series, Insurgent by Veronica Roth, Beatris Prior, or Tris for short, has to find a way to stop that person, named Jeanine, from controlling everyone. Jeanine can use simulations to control everyone’s brain except the Divergent who are immune. Tris is one of those Divergent and she tries to use that power along with her Divergent boyfriend to stop Jeanine. However when she learns that there is something being hidden and she wants to find out, she has to make a hard decision between going with her love or finding the truth.The author had the book in first person view with Tris and it had been done quite well to portr... moreay Tris’ thoughts. While this wasn’t the best considering literary work, the dialogue was done well and the character development had progressed nicely. I thought that the speed of the book was a little slow which might have been because it was very detailed but even so some of things were prolonged a bit. This book was very unpredictable and that included the ending. I would have never guessed that to happen and it left me very surprised. The cliffhanger left me wanting to know more and to read the next book in this series. I would recommend this book if you read Divergent and liked it or if you have a taste for dystopian worlds along with a twinge of romance.
review 2: For me honestly I don't think this book lived up to my expectations. I liked it, but its not something I would rave about. I think the biggest problem I had was connecting with Tris, she was hard to understand,emotional and just a flat character. I love the idea of this book but divergent was just a little too long for my taste. this book didn't wow me but I did like it. The first few chapters are my favorite parts about the book but it kinda went downhill for me at the mid-part of the book. Just don't go into this book thinking it will be like the hunger games. Other than tris and four, i thought all the other characters were great and very descriptive. less
