review 1: This is my first Jon Stanton Mystery and I will say that I loved the plot and the pacing. There were a few times inthe story where i felt the authors choice of actions didnt fit into a realistic image of the people he was trying to portray, but that is the only complaint i had with this book. the story is good and believable - the dialog realistic (except for a few parts) - and the ending was a small shock. all in all a good read.
review 2: Most readers will find this an enjoyable read, with basic solid writing spinning a suspenseful yarn with an intriguing, beleaguered detective at the center. There are a few minor problems (such as how long it takes for leaking gas to fill a room to an ignitable condition) and the novel could use a good copy editing. Still, f
... morear more pros than cons. I'd love to see the author give this work a good final polish. The final twist is certainly interesting, but would work better with slightly more foreshadowing (without giving away the secret, of course). Very good choice using the double point of view (Calvin and Jon). less
