review 1: Vivien Shotwell's first novel was hard to put down. Full disclosure, I have long been interested, as is the author, in the women for whom Mozart composed. This is the fictionalized story of Anna (Nancy) Storace: the first Susanna. Warning: if you are a soprano, you will never again be able to sing "Deh vieni non tardar" without calling to mind one of the most sensual yet absurdly funny scenes in this novel.
review 2: For those who like historical fiction, this would be a good choice. The one issue I have with this is the book is sort of presented as the story of Mozart and some of his love affairs, or more specifically, his love affair with Anna Storace. But really, the entire novel is about Anna Storace and then briefly discusses the affair that the two o
... moref them had. Although the book was fun and interesting to read I feel a little mislead about what the original story was supposed to be about. Not too bad of a novel, but when reading the acknowledgements this author took ten years to write this novel which is kind of a concern for future novels. But all in all not a bad novel for those that like historical fiction. less

Loved it, as the author showed us a different side of Mozart.

So-so book, easy to read, but verged on being lackluster.
