review 1: This would be such a good movie! Mozart! Arias! Opera! The book is a history lesson set within a well-told story about a diva from the time of Mozart. Makes me want to see Vienna even more than before, but at an early age. There is no sympathy to be found for the main character, nor has the author made her out to be moralistic but quite human. It doesn't matter the era, when you rise to stardom at too early an age, you lose your good growing edge and make all kinds of social blunders.
review 2: I was lucky enough to win this ARC and I enjoyed it. I felt that the writing was rather stiff, though. It didn't flow; almost as if it were translated from another language.Mozart was largely undeveloped as a character. The book was primarily about the Opera, with the li... morettle "tryst" between Anna and Mozart a teaser, an aside. The author is an Opera singer, so I am sure this is what she intended. She succeeded in providing a lot of information about Opera singing.I am just spoiled by Stephanie Cowell's writing and this cannot compare. "Marrying Mozart" was a delightful read. less
