review 1: A little gory, but then again, we are talking the zombie apocalypse here. Angsty main character, secrets, many near death moments and an ending I predicted about halfway through the book. Even so, I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the return trip from the prison. 3/4 of the book, they fight zombies, mercenaries and even packs of wild dogs as they travel from AZ to CA, and after the big fight scene, Henry just drives home from CA to AZ without any incident whatsoever? Come on now...
review 2: This book reminds me of a cross between "The Walking Dead" and the "Assassin" series by Robert Ferrigno. A post-zombie dystopia set in a mangled version of America where civilization has been pushed back east of the Mississippi River. It is full of action but ... morethe mid-point drags a little and some of the dialogue becomes a bit too much like comic book writing. I also became a little to desensitized to the ongoing violence after a while. After all, there are so many ways to describe a zombie oozing black blood or missing certain body parts. Overall, this was an entertaining story with a good plot. I would definitely like to read further adventures of Dr. Henry Marco. less
