review 1: I read this because a favorite cousin recommended it. At first i thought it was way too long but i became entrenched in the characters. It was thoughtful and filled of info and interesting things. I'd have given it a5 star but sometimes i didnt realize at first we'd flipped to historical stuff. But it is a fascinating character read and i really recommend it. the end up to the last paragraph or so (though not the exact last) is very gratifying after getting to know the characters so well. i'll look to read more of his books!
review 2: This is the third book that I've read by this author. The first two that I read were much better. This one was disappointing. It seemed like the author was rambling aimlessly and kept repeating the same themes over and over aga

It's a good thing that that wasn't the first book of his that I read, because it probably would have been the only one that I would read. less

Very long book and not the best story line. One of the worse Wally Lamb books.

Great story, poor execution, dragged on for what seemed like an eternity.
