review 1: Walter Jon Williams is a brilliant sci fi writer. So I only hesitated momentarily to pay $19.99 for an ebook of this novel. This is Not a Game is ... So well put together, and so well written, I barely batted an eyelid devouring it. It will be one of those stories I will reference over the years, as the idea of ARGs mixing with reality and taking down real bad guys with the help of millions of players in the Group Mind is a powerful idea.
review 2: I can't decide on three or four stars as a rating, I wish I could give 3 1/2 but I'll round it up to four since I half expected I would get bored and not finish it. I was quite surprised by how much I enjoyed this book as it is not my usual genre. I also thought it was interesting how it took so little time to read. ... moreI guess that's because its set in the united states. In fantasy there is a whole new world to learn and it takes more time. (not that I mind) It was really quite an interesting story. I thought it had a satisfying sort of ending, but I probably wont get around to reading the other two books in this series. less
