review 1: I really enjoyed this memoir. The author does a great job of taking us through her tumultuous upbringing with her narcissistic and sociopathic mother. She has a way of telling the story that reminded me a lot of Jeanette Walls in The Glass Castle, detached somewhat emotionally but still able to convey the frustrations of having such a difficult childhood. Some of the details seemed too fantastic, but then again she has lived a far different life than my own and traveled in circles I cannot imagine. The author has a great voice. review 2: This memoir is one of the best I've read; an unrelenting, honest, pitch black funny book. It is truly remarkable what the charming, beautiful, and wealthy can get away with. Wendy tells her story with a wonderful wit and grace and a wicked dark humor without a trace of the whiny self pity that are rampant in the memoir game. less
