review 1: I really enjoyed this memoir. The author does a great job of taking us through her tumultuous upbringing with her narcissistic and sociopathic mother. She has a way of telling the story that reminded me a lot of Jeanette Walls in The Glass Castle, detached somewhat emotionally but still able to convey the frustrations of having such a difficult childhood. Some of the details seemed too fantastic, but then again she has lived a far different life than my own and traveled in circles I cannot imagine. The author has a great voice.
review 2: This memoir is one of the best I've read; an unrelenting, honest, pitch black funny book. The tragic neglect and abuse Georgann inflicts on her children is stunning in proportion and amazing that although some people tried
... moreto shield them, nobody ever tried to get them away from her. It is truly remarkable what the charming, beautiful, and wealthy can get away with. Wendy tells her story with a wonderful wit and grace and a wicked dark humor without a trace of the whiny self pity that are rampant in the memoir game. less
