review 1: Mr. Lessmore loves books, and stories, and words. He is heart-broken when a storm hits and all of his books are scattered and ruined. One day he is walking along and a flying book whisks him off to a beautiful house in the middle of nowhere. Inside Morris relearns the importance and beauty of books and is able to pass it on to someone after him. This beautiful circle story reminds readers how important books are and the stories that they tell. The short film that goes along with this book beautifully brings to life the vivid characters of the story. A recommended read for people of all ages.
review 2: The first thing to catch my attention was the wonderfully creative illustrations. Here the books truly come to life and their affect on the reader is made visible
... more in a change from black and white to color. The words themselves will thrill any book lover, capturing the magic of the reading experience. I tried reading it with a 4 year old. We only got about 1/3 of the way in before she lost interest (several times). I imagine it would work with kids in 1st or 2nd grade. less

This book would be a great mentor text for introducing a writers notebook.
