review 1: Ah, unfortunately I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first Guardians book. Something about it felt forced, as if it was trying too hard to be both like the first book and nothing like it. In the end, it just wasn't as magical and involving for me.Having said that, it was an acceptable continuation of the first book and I was glad to read more about North! I'm now looking forward to reading the next entry in this series.
review 2: Despite the fact that these books are written for younger audiences. As an adult I find myself completely enthralled by them. The stories are so original, the writing though simple (as it is meant for the young)is still chock full of detail and whimsy. The illustrations are practically drool worthy, they are that beautiful. Also,... more if you are a lover of chocolate, when you get to the descriptions of the various otherworldly chocolates, you will find yourself thinking "Why can't such beautiful and delicious things exist?" less
