review 1: I really liked this book, it was a nice departure from some of the other genres I've been reading. Overall, it was a quick/easy read. There were a few grammar "issues" (ones I do not think were intentional) that annoyed me, but the plot did have me on the edge of my seat and eager to read on. In fact, I was on page 350 or so when my lunch hour began, and I continued reading at my desk after the hour was up (something I have never done before) just so I could finish the last 20 pages. Shh, don't tell my boss :)
review 2: This book was just phenomenally written. The voice was amazing, and I thought it was a brilliant move to write this in the first person narrative from the father's POV with just enough snippets from a weaved in court testimony to take you out
... more of Andy's head and make you question whether he is a little nuts. I was filled with dread throughout the entire novel, waiting to see what horrible event brought the present-day Grand Jury trial and the story of Jacob's trial all together. The themes of denial and self-delusion were present and strong through the whole novel, and reminiscent of "Remains of the Day" by Kazuo Ishiguro. However, this was a really difficult book for me to read, personally, as a parent, and I'm not sure I actually LIKED the book, in that regard. But I read it in two days, and could have read it in a day if I didn't have a baby. So... less

Well written. Great endings. Yes, endings. Didn't see them coming. Definitely worth reading.
