review 1: Disillusioned by William Manchee is a Stan Turner Mystery (9) that I received free from Goodreads. I was drawn in to the adventure. Stan Turner has more energy to solve problems than most men attending college full time, selling insurance on the side, a a husband and father. He doesn't give up trying to clear the name of his friend Rob who had made a poor investment. At the same time Stan is managing a political campaign for a friend as he tries to find out where all the money is coming from to support the opponent. The dialog moves quickly moving the adventure from one scene to the next. Stan's wife loves him but I think I would have been frustrated with working, taking care of the kids and always being there when he comes home, every once in a while after being gone... more with one female friend or another.
review 2: Disillusioned is right! Stan. Rob. Brad. Todd. This book could have been jazzed up a bit with some more creative names for the main characters. The best scene in the book was when Stan went to Mexico to save Brad. I thought that was a very creative part of the story. And I was indeed surprised at who was behind all the murders, etc. I didn't see that coming. Overall, the book reads quite robotically with no real emotion. It moves along at the same pace throughout the whole book. I received this book in one of the Goodreads contests and that may be why there are so many typos in the book. The character Kristina reminded me of one of the Tea Party candidates, a young woman with no experience. That is OK, though, just an observation. If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. less
