review 1: This book took a long time for me to read but I am glad that the unfortunate writing style did not put me off completely reading it to the end as I enjoyed the story. I think Yannick Murphy was trying to make the story three dimensional but the use of 'this is....' was very off putting and I like reading rather than watching, so I can apply my own imagination. If you can overlook the repetition THIS IS a well worth read about a swim team, murder and the lives of the swim team parents and the murderer.
review 2: Man I wanted to like this book, and did for the first several chapters. And then, it, just, slowed, to, a, crawl. And there are a series of ridiculously one-dimensional characters that don't do much of anything, a ridiculous "resolution," and just a
... moreleftover feeling of ridiculousness. I didn't mind the gimmicky use of second-person, and I quite liked the changing POVs (some had such potential! the water! the light from the rest area! not so much the cleaning lady!) - except when it became clear that there was no point to many of the shifting perceptions. Instead, just a way to stretch out a thin narrative. This would earn a straight up "I wish I hadn't read it," except I did so at the beach which was lovely. Also putting on competitive swimwear sounds horrible. less

Meh. Interesting plot in Vermont. But the writing style was difficult to navigate at times.
