review 1: This book was very very different. It actually was a learning experience for me, the main characters in the book dealt with racism, poverty, African heritage and Slavery days heritage and Time travel. I can't say to much about the story without giving away the story. But you wont be disappointed with this book. Its an eye-opening experience that's for sure. And an excellent book for a book club discussion.
review 2: This was predictably hard to read but worth it. I really enjoyed it and it didn't feel like just a slave book with all the black people being talked down to. ... morenteresting. I understood her love for him but he wasn't as likable once they got to Civil War Era Brooklyn, even though that is understandable. I really liked Paul and wished that had went further. I appreciated the supporting characters and I really liked how Genna found her place in that time period without sacrificing who she was. Good read less
