Overall, this is a perfect book when you want a decent "distraction." If you are in the middle of reading very thought heavy books and you are looking for a quick read in which you don't really have to pay attention much, but you are still taken on a adventure then this book is perfect for you! This book was given to me by a friend and after looking at the cover I wasn't sure what to think. Once I opened it and started reading I couldn't stop until it was done! I love the characters and the author's writing style, he has an amazing way of taking you through this story. I would say something about the story but honestly, the synopsis at the back of the cover is perfect!
This is in a similar vein as Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" except instead of being banished to the fringe, all the old gods are like celebrities. Luka, or Lucky, is a D-list prosperity who makes the unfortunate acquaintance of Phil and Teri Robinson. At first Lucky's mooching in their house--his "temple"--is benign but eventually things start to turn dangerous.Overall it's fun. With short chapters and a lot of dialog it makes for easy reading. None of the characters are all that well developed, but serviceable for the plot. I noticed the author has my same affliction of overusing the word "just."That is all.
Quick and irreverent with some really funny moments. Chris Moore-ish, in a complimentary way.
