review 1: Cruelest Month is a mystery that tries to make its sheriff/detective a little more thoughtful and literary. I liked him and his more technical associate and wanted to like the northern Michigan setting. But the plot and town/locale and ancillary characters were cartoonishly drawn and weakly connected together. Perhaps the author could also write books on kayaking and food as I did enjoy the brief moments when the sheriff and his lady friend were out on the water or cooking dinner.

... moremall smaller characters and you begin to feel a connection for them. I need start this was out of order so a little angry with myself. less

Enjoyed the book .Will read the rest of the series. Loved the Lake Michigan setting.
