review 1: I wasn't too sure about this book for the first couple of chapters, but soon I found it un-put-downable (if that's a word, LOL!). I spent two evenings sitting in the tub until I was shivering just because I couldn't stop reading this book. And I just ordered two more of Ms. Reynolds' books from the library. She's a brilliant writer with compelling characters and plot turns and twists that are original and swoon-worthy (another made-up word, I think!). This book, despite the not-so-subtle digs at Republicans and Creationists, was definitely a page-turner. Anyway, I'm very much looking forward to future book obsessions, thanks to Abigail Reynolds. I'm just hoping that politics won't be a focus in her other Austenish titles.
review 2: What a scam. I picked this
... morebook up from a neighborhood book exchange simply because the word Pemberley was in the title. Thinking it might be a sweet romance, with shades of Elizabeth and Darcy in it, I was sorely disappointed. Quite frankly, I'm embarrassed I read the whole thing. Here is the short version of my review: This book is a bodice ripper, pretending to give itself an air of respectability by associating with a great classic. The part of the story where our hero writes a book starring himself as Darcy and his love interest as Elizabeth is so bad its galling. I can't imagine any fan of P&P enjoying it all. Spare yourself the disappointment. There is actually some good P&P fan fiction out there that doesn't turn Darcy into a love machine and Elizabeth into a bundle of uncontrollable hormones with an almost comical inability to read the emotional cues of people around her. less

I was so disappointed by all the sex scenes. Seriously? This is not Jane Austen anything.

One of my absolute favorite modern adaptations of P&P!
