But he needed to collect the 9 descendent of the original animal council to summon a tower that has the power to cast magic all over the world, so he travels around the country and collects each of the mystical animals. Then just as the animals summon the tower the undead army arrives and it is a mad dash to the tower to determent the fait of the world. review 2: I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.This book seemed like it would be really interesting and entertaining. I wanted to like it. However, it is part of a series and unfortunately I have not read books one and two... more yet. As a stand alone book, it was hard to follow. So much had already happened and so much was still going on that I had trouble keeping up. I'm sure if I had read the other two books everything would have been clearer. I really liked the animal characters. Tons of personality and exactly how you'd think they would act (provided animals possessed special powers). Descriptions were good and actions scenes were dramatic. Even not fully understanding their relationship with their human familiars that scene was still very heartbreaking. Not revealing anything, the ending was satisfactory. Like I've said, since so many things were enjoyable about this book I probably would have liked it so much more if I had read the others first. less
