review 1: This is one of those books that I gave up on pretty early on, so I can't rate it very high. I'll go back and read the first two books and try this one again and I might revise my rating then. There is a talent to be able to write books in a series that can stand on their own without boring those who have read the entire series. That talent was not present in the first chapter or so of this book. I did read the first book in the series, so this one made more sense. I REALLY liked the first book; this one is still far weaker.
review 2: Very good book. There was lots of action and magic to keep the young reader's interest engaged. This did end the trilogy and hinted at more adventures for the Firmiliars in the future, (the next book).I would prefer a one book
... moreadventure as opposed to a trilogy. I was amused by some of the names of places and characters. If you reversed the name you'll see it is a proper name. Even one of the authors used his name in reverse. As fun as the story was to read, the multitude of characters might be a little confusing to a young reader. I know the story line required lots of character this time to solve its problem, but perhaps the next adventure the authors might keep the character list short. less

Amazing. This book rounds off one of the best trilogies I've read recently. Excellently done.
