review 1: It's not what I expected. It seems that, while still good, Adam Jay and Andrew couldn't catch up with their two prior books. While the other two books were more adventure-based, this was more about bonds and less about adventure(it still had a lot though). That might have been because we were introduced with many characters in just one book. The book also contained some scenes that I totally just skipped over. You know, you just skip over to get the whole thing over with. I wasn't doing that to put the book away though! I just wanted to find the traitor so much that the other things happening in the book started fading out. And some of the words didn't help any. (I'm not a native speaker of English if you couldn't tell--lol)Overall though, I really liked the series so I c... morean't say I disliked this book. Maybe reading it a second time may help me to actually conceive the book as a whole and not focus on the traitor. If you want my advice, I strongly suggest you read the whole series- it would be worth it in the end!
review 2: I enjoyed the new quest that Aldwyn (alley cat), Skylar (blue jay) and Gilbert (tree frog) went on. These animals are familiars or animal assistants to wizards. In this case, wizards in training. Paksahara (hare) is trying to take over the area called Vastia. She feels that the humans should not rule the area and that animals should rule. The hare is hidden in a Shifting Fortress so no one can try to stop the hare unless they can stop the fortress from shifting. This shifting can only be stopped if the 7 magical descendants of species that formed the 1st phylum will stand around one of the glyphstones. There are 3 glyphstones in the area and Paksahara is sending her army of dead animals to destroy them all. The human wizards have been stripped of their magic by a spell of disenchantment that Paksahara cast. The story is very enjoyable because they go through several areas to find these descendants. There are many challenges that the Three endure. There are self doubts for success, but somehow and someway they work together. Lothar the wolverine is a strong foe. He is one of many. That what makes the story fast reading. You are pulling for the Three not only to be successful, but wonder how they are going to get out of the situation they get themselves into. This is the 3rd book in the series. It sounds like there will be another soon. I can't wait. less
