review 1: Simple shifter perfection.I'm going back a while now, but this was actually my first introduction to this genre. It stayed with me all this time.Just such a stunning read.I'm not afraid to admit that... yeah, I'm insanely jealous of this author's talent. I need to get the paperback of this; it's one I need to hold...{edit, okay, I've gone ordered the paperback. Damn these authors for making me spend more money...):)
review 2: This was a very interesting world, though fairly complex in its terminology. The glossary up front did help, but I did find myself being confused by which kind of 'feed' we were talking about sometimes. That aside, I found myself rather captivated by Adam's circumstances and his and Ean's (and Brian's) past. The one thing I didn't truly fe
... moreel was their expressed possessiveness. (This perhaps is an unfortunate side-effect of reading this story immediately after something written by Mary Calmes.) I was a touch confused why it seemed like Adam kept trying to talk himself into being Ean's when he couldn't seem to stop wanting Brian. (At least in the past. I never felt that in the present.) Maybe it was just a physical thing, but he seemed to always physically react to Brian and not to Ean, but he wanted to be reacting to Ean and wasn't, at least until the very end. I just found that confusing, and I think that played into my questions about how they really felt.I rather wonder at the purpose of Hurath and Kika in the story. We at least learn something about Kika's personality through Ean's eyes, but we see/learn practically nothing of Hurath, so I wondered at the need to introduce them at all. Maybe they're in the sequels? So, 4 to 4.5 stars. Somewhere in there.ETA: P.S. Another book where it should be "cojones", NOT "cajones". less

This would have been a 5 star read for me but the abrupt ending just kind of threw me.
