review 1: I think this book has beautiful characterization but the author just wrote the book too fast so it was like they didn't have time to fully develop to their absolute potential. Even factoring in the length of this short novel the characters still were great and surprisingly well developed considering. The main character Liam is so altruistic and the reader can't help but sympathize. I adored the connection he had with his brothers I felt like everything was rushed though. I honestly believe if the author had made this longer it would have been better. Of course there could be continuations of this story line with the same main characters but the first book she wrote of the gray zone series was not continued so it makes me wonder whether or not this one would be. Either way ... moreI thought the book had good original ideas a unique world and fun to emerse myself into. I applaud Adrienne Wilder for this thoroughly enjoyable read that leaves you with your hands out and palms up begging for more.
review 2: This book was really hard for me rate. I liked the concept of the story and the world it set in, but it was hard to read. By that I mean some of the scenes were pretty brutal and had me cringing as I read them (one almost had me quit reading the book) and even though there was a glossary of terms at the start of the book, there were times I was utterly confused. I realize now after reading the book that there are other books set in this world (City of Dragons and Darwin's Theory) though not in this series. Maybe if I had read these I'd understand more about the difference between half-breeds and lesser-breeds or being kept as opposed to belonging or being a Link. That being said I guess I would recommend this book to people who have read other books set in the Grey Zone, but I wouldn't have them start with this series as I think they would be missing out on the world-building. less

3.5 - Not as good as "To Adam With Love", it felt like it ended to quick, but still worth the read!
