The Judas Chronicles
review 1: After several thousand years on earth, anyone would be a little warped, right?Doomed to immortality because of his betrayal of Christ, Judas Iscariot (now called William Barrow) must collect the thirty pieces of silver he was given by the Romans. But each coin has caused mayhem throughout the centuries, and the worse the history of the coin, the harder it's retrieval.Plaque of Coins is the beginning of this amazing series. It's hard to put one down without immediately purchasing the next one. Each is written as a journal of sorts, I like the style. These books will take you all over the world and each story grips as much as the previous. This coin, number 22, is hidden in Iran. But something else, something mystical, is also hidden there. There is a Russian billionaire will... moreing to destroy anything in his path to reach that something else. Aided by his son, Alistair, Judas/William must protect the world. And maybe get that coin.
review 2: I give this 3 stars with hesitation. I like the story line, the action, the oddity and mythology. It gives me some things to ponder in the area of "what if", like a good sci-fi/fantasy story will do for me. But... what an over abundance of cussing! I don't mind the use of foul language - to a point. But this is Judas, on a mission to collect all the silver he was paid when he betrayed Jesus with the hopes of receiving redemption at the end. Yes, he's a tough guy, been around a while, but the over usage of the F - bomb and the god - damns really didn't do anything to improve his story or character. In fact, there was rarely a page where there is no vomiting of cuss words. Instead of using foul language at moments to make a point, it was taken to a unnecessary extreme. The story was good, the adventure draws you in, the characters are lively, evil and goodhearted, many wonders are explained well, along with the dangers encountered and there are heart wrenching moments too. But if you have a problem with foul language spewed on nearly every page... avoid.Judas, silver, father - son relation, immortality, Iran, archaeology, the usual good looking bimbo types of women characters as side notes, a strong independent educated woman character, family, legend, typical KGB thugs, evil megalomaniac, garden of Eden, angels, creepy crawly bugs and other things, crypts, ancient towns, the love between man and wife. less

An interesting premise fairly well handled. I might like to read more of these.
