review 1: I really was surprised when the title of this book actually revealed itself as very directly referring to the action – but it's not that simple. Duality in person and politics is examined during a tumultuous time in Chile's history inside this short novella. True to its south american origins, this book takes the reader from inside the novella into the real life surrounding the novella, into an examination of life, how things get complicated, and home as a location, idea, and a terminus.
review 2: A short novel that was easy to read, and yet had a deceptively lyrical voice. I’m always dubious about writers writing about writing, but the author pretty much gets away with it, with the exception of some unnecessary navel gazing towards the end. Still, enjoya
