review 1: Ok Vince Flynn fans, here is a sort of replacement. John Wells is the main character - counter to Mitch Rapp of Flynn fame. If you like these kind of books they are entertaining, well written and interesting. I would start at the first one, 'The Faithful Spy', and read them in order. This one though is a separate book from the others, in that our hero, Mr Wells, takes on a private and personal mission outside of the CIA and terrorist normal situation. The stories are relatively complex and compelling, but not quite the level of Mr. Flynn. More like Ian Fleming maybe, but a bit more realistic.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book - this was the first I've ready by Alex Berenson - but I'm sure it won't be my last. When an author has the ability to make you
... more hold your breath - as a scene continues - thats a great writer. I wondered how much longer I could hold my breath as the Hero is held up in an open hut, while 4 killers ride towards him on motor-bike, AK's aimed and ready, and behind him, he hears growls from the hyenas as he has just interupted their human meal...eeeekkkk! One automatically 'assumes' the Hero always wins - I've learned - never assume anything! I love books that can take me into emotions and fears that I only have to read the Authors words to experience them.....most of which I never hope to experience first-hand in life! ahhhhh the world of books!!! less
